A4 format, quality gloss paper, folded flaps on card covers. Initailly published in an edition of 500 copies these sold out within 2 weeks of publication. A second but shorter printing has been produced, half have already sold. Includes the geology, the surrounding hills and peaks, connections with port of Lyttelton, Ferrymead, Heathcote bridge & river, community organisations & sport clubs, vineyards, houses & homes, family histories of the valleys, pre European Maori, first families & colonisation, Bridle Path, struggles and historical background to Heathcote's school, general development, constructing the rail tunnel & road tunnel, Maltworks, pioneer orchardists, wineries, farmers & market gardeners, the Railways, larger-then-life personalities and local characters, impact of two world wars, the Larrikins of the 1880s, Gondola, first racecourse, the hotels and the Temperance movement, quarries & brickworks, infanticide & crime, and vicious assaults, the humour & and the families that make it what it is today...
